Yoichi Oogai
1968: Born in Katsushika, Tokyo
1993: Studied under Tsuneyoshi Shimabukuro, potter of Tsuboya
1998: Established his own pottery studio in Motobu-cho
2003: Moved to Ogimi Village
2015: Built Ogimi community pottery kiln.
Mainly produces Shisa, which he learned at Tsuboya-yaki.
Shisa are produced three times a year in the climbing kiln.
Each piece is individually hand-formed, so each piece has a different expression, shape, and color.
No piece is the same as another.
I produce not only Shisa as a guardian deity of the house, but also
incense burners and other small objects that can be used in the home.
