Leggy_Chanpuru 2024~
In 2024, I traveled northward through Okinawa for seven days with the keywords “distribution/adaptation/native growth” of plants.
I collected overgrown and unsold materials from cactus farmers, closed plant stores, unmanned sales outlets, U.S. military bases, markets, historical museums, home centers, and so on. I installed “ Mixed planting = chanpuru-planting” which is planting in water tanks using drifted materials from the seashore and soil from cultivated lands without permission, in the garden. How will the “unnatural nature,” which will continue to be placed in the garden after the exhibition, adapt to the land and people of Yambaru and grow by itself? While adding new materials, I continue to observe its process as well as confirming its various roots.
