Mutual formation of people and tools
This work was created with the motif of the relationship between “humans and tools” in Okinawa.
Okinawa is a region within Japan that has developed its own unique culture, and I considered how tools born in Okinawa have related to people and how their shapes have changed. Based on the research conducted in the field and documents collected in advance, I visualized the tools through sketches and recorded them.
Due to the development of modern technology, many folk tools have lost their roles, and the relationship between people and tools has been changing. In order to close the distance between people and tools, I created a new image of human beings in which tools and people are blended with each other. Since folk tools were used repeatedly on a daily basis, Short and repetitive animation videos are projected in the classroom, and all the original animations drawn on Japanese paper were glued together to form a “material body” for this exhibition.
