Tohenboku Studio (woodwork)
Yagi Masahiro, born in 1956 in Yomitan. After working as a business man, established his own studio at the age of 32. His furniture, made from Okinawan lumber, has a unique roundness that is loved by many of his fans throughout the country. Currently he makes furniture by order only. Yagi has won many awards for his work, including the Japan Woody Grand Fair Judge's Award. He is leader in the woodworks world, especially in Okinawa, and will serve as the executive director for the 22nd Okinawa Woody Fair to be held from November 3rd to 5th, in 2018.
I take care to make my furniture out of bishop wood, known to Okinawa. I want people to know just how great Okinawan wood is, so I hope that many will come down, and take a close look at my work.
