Tsuboya Yaki Kiln Ikutoen

Tsuboya Yaki Kiln Ikutoen

Ikutoen is a Tsuboya-yaki pottery studio of over 300 years. As of 2017, I am working alongside 30 other artists, here in the land of Tsuboya, using only soil from Okinawa and handmade glaze to carefully make each piece of pottery. We strive to "create items necessary to that time," hoping that our creation will continue to be a part of the scenery here in Tsuboya.

The Ash series, is a fresh series of earthy colored and textured pottery, which features a base made of Okinawan red dirt, glazed with a handmade glaze made from minerals and chaff ash. The vessels pair perfectly with each meal scene, not to mention their compatibility with bread and sweets. It is a new generation of Tsuboya pottery.
