Shiroma Bingata Studio (Okinawa dye)

Eiichi Shiroma (40) Inherits the Shiroma Bingata studio from his father, and 15th generation bingata craftsman. Currently, he works with 20 craftsmen at the Shiroma Bingata studio, devoting himself to the art of bingata.

"Bingata is the living power of Okinawa," these were my father's words, which have inspired me to take over the art of Bingata, which has been carried on since the Ryukyu Era, and pass it on to the next generation. I feel that it is my calling, and duty. I continue to contemplate, what would be accepted in a world where values change drastically.
