那覇市壺屋出身。小橋川卓史(こばしかわ・たかし)はやちむんが盛んな壺屋で代々作陶し、4代目となる。1988年より父・清正に師事し陶芸を学ぶ。2000年に開催された九州沖縄G8サミット首里城夕食会にて練り込み皿を制作。2002年、経済産業大臣指定の日本伝統工芸士に認定。

PROFILE

Kiyomasa Toki is the pottery studio from Tsuboya, Naha city. The artist of the studio Takashi Kobayakawa is the fourth successor to his predecessors who had been working as the potters for generations in Tsuboya, the area where pottery is the thriving industry. He learned pottery from his father Kiyomasa from 1988. In 2000, he created Nerikomi dishes (marble tone dishes) for Kyushu-Okinawa G8 summit dinner party at Shuri castle that was held in the same year. In 2002, he was certified as the Japan Traditional Craftsman by Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry.

Kiyomasa Toki creates wares called Gyomon-bori (pottery with the marking of fish), ornamented with gold and platinum.
